Funmi Lawal

I am Funmi Lawal founder and CEO. I design and retail patented award-winning adaptive underwear
for women of all ages it is innovative and one that has never been done before in the world. It
negates the need to bend or stretch. It can be worn sitting, standing or lying down. It is ideal for the
elderly, disabled and post-operative recuperation. In 2002, suddenly and unexpectedly, I suffered a
stroke. I could not walk, talk or use my entire right side. While recovering from the stroke, I had an
idea of how I could help people in similar situations, that was the birth of clip-knix.

I graduated from the University of Ilorin in Nigeria in 1987. I later attended the London School of
Economics and Political Science where I obtained an MSc in Analysis, design and management of
information systems. I worked in the civil service for 10 years. I later moved to Dubai, where I
worked for ORGA card systems. On my return to the UK, I had to retrain after the stroke, I did a
professional course in Project Management.

I am one of 6 trustees and vice chair of the Royal Free Hospital Kidney Patient Association. An
advisor to – Billion Strong in the USA. I represent the Royal Free on the London Kidney network. I
have worn awards for the business and personally. SME UK Enterprise for most innovative
undergarment manufacturer 2023. A finalist Federation of Small Business for Business and Product
Innovation Award 2023. I have addressed MP on the relationship between blood pressure and
kidney failure. I was invited to speak at Naidex for 50 years of supporting the disabled. I was included
in the 2023 female entrepreneurs. I am a director (Board Member Institutional review board) at
Spectrum USA. I am also in the cohort for Smallbiz 100 2022. Finalist at She Inspires 2022. Special
It is Clothing of the year 2020/2021.
